I used to do all my own auto repair, but then I started taking my car to Braudt's sometimes, and they do such good work at such reasonable rates that now I just take everything there. They work on my BMW for a FRACTION of what the dealer charges. Would highly recommend them.
Was referred to them by AAA when our timing belt broke coming back from a camping trip nearby. They replaced the timing belt and installed a new water pump. We discovered recently that it was a cheap refurbished water pump with a 1 year warranty, and 1 year and 11 months later, the water pump broke and the antifreeze damaged the timing belt. So we have had to pay for 2 timing belts, and 2 water pump replacements in less than 2 years at around $800 a peace. We contacted Braudt and they said that they could do absolutely nothing for us since the warranty was complete. Water pumps should last 60,000-100,000 miles or so. The bearings went out and on the way to the repair shop, it started leaking badly. They likely put too much tension on the timing belt when it was installed, (we also noted that the engine was a little whinier after the new belt was put on, but assumed--incorrectly--that this was due to having a new belt and not that we would be replacing the same part less than 2 years later). If you can, I would consider another shop if you are in the area.
Broke down while passing through Fennimore. Tow truck driver referred. Was skeptical having been burned in the past by the "local mechanic". Jamie and his crew were exceedingly busy but got me in and fixed the problem without gouging me. Shop was clean and seemed to be well run with emplyees that were treated well and with respect. I would refer Braudt Auto if asked.
